Finding Inspiration in Every Turn

This is the Final draft of what the Baned Book Mural will look like. It's a wide single book shelf. There are 32 visible books. On that there are also vines and blue flowers. Some recognizable titles include: The Color Purple, Charlotte's Web, Beloved, and more.

This group was formed through the Loras College Honors Program. A main part of the program is choosing a project to work on for the four years we are in college. Our group originally researched public art and its impact on the Dubuque community. We saw that the murals had the biggest impacts on community building, business revenue, tourism, and diversity of opinions.

The main goal of Honors Projects is to impact the community and we thought the best way to do that would be creating a mural but we didn't know what would go on the mural. We then decided to contact Voices Production and see if they would want to work with us on this project. Sam Mulgrew who is in charge of Voices gave us the idea of creating the Banned Book Mural.

We are thankful we get to work with such amazing people on this project and that we can bring this idea into reality. But our project doesn't end with just the mural. The second part of our project is hosting book club meetings on a banned book.
